Kai

Design is not only the creation of form but the construction of meaning. By continually exploring content, clarifying ideas, and making relentlessly, I seek connections between form and meaning to generate new possibilities.

More visuals, fewer words.

Kai

Hi, this is Kai, a graphic designer whose work spans publication design, motion graphics, posters, branding, websites, and experimental artist books. Recently, Kai has been particularly interested in exploring motion and dynamic visual language.

For Kai, the design process often feels like solving a problem: reading the question, analyzing it, and finding flexible ways to arrive at an answer. This exploratory process is something Kai deeply enjoys—perhaps influenced by a long-standing love of mathematics.

Kai believes that meaningful form must grow from content. Only when form emerges from what it communicates can it generate real vitality, rather than remaining a surface-level visual gesture. Having designed multiple art books, Kai has developed a strong sensitivity to rhythm, pacing, and white space in editorial design—seeking moments of poetry within structure and space.

Kai is currently based in Baltimore and pursuing an MFA in Graphic Design at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).
